Shiites suspend protests, following proscription

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites, has temporarily suspended its protests demandind for the freedom of its leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.

IMN made the announcement on Wednesday, few days after it was proscribed by the federal government of Nigeria.

According to a statement released by the group, the suspension is to allow for some new openings into the resolution of the problems, especially the court case instituted by it lawyers on the proscription order.
