TVC news is reporting that Senator Dino Melaye, has finally surrendered to the Nigeria Police Force after eight days siege to his Abuja residence.
According to the report, the senator and lawmakers who came to his house to show solidarity are heading to the police headquarters as at the time of filing this report.
Senator had refused to leave his residence, prompting more deployment by the police to his house.
A request by Kogi-born senator for police officers to vacate his residence and desist from further attempts at arresting him was on Thursday, January 3 declined by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Melaye had approached the court through his lawyer, Nkem Okoro of Mike Ozekhome (SAN) chambers following allegations by the senator that the police planned to poison him.
Melaye had also asked the court to stop the police from what he described as acting in a manner threatening his life or putting his life in jeopardy pending the determination of the substantive suit.
He further sought the order of the court restraining the police from further arresting him, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
Judge, N. E. Maha, in his ruling refused the application, but ruled that the matter be granted accelerated hearing.
